May 05, 2004Thoughts on WikiWell, I had to use a wiki in order to collaborate with a colleague across the Atlantic and a customer across the Pacific and the experience was just amazing. It is just something that I cant believe I was not using before (and thanks to my client for suggesting this). For those that have never head of Wikis they are short for WikiWikiWeb. 'Invented' by Ward Cunnigham (Wiki means quick in Hawaian) they are, a rather bizzare in the beggining, concept of a community being able to edit pages at will. How did we use it? It was a matter of creating a - password protected - extranet that allowed us to use Wiki both as a room for ideas and explanations but also as a way to assign tasks and report progress as things evolved. Email would never have been able to achieve the results we got. This is the beginning of a wonderful friendhip Comments
